Privacy notice

Your documents

Files you open are processed in your browser. Our code doesn't upload them, and we don't receive, store or see them. See Security for what this does and doesn't guarantee.

Usage statistics

We record cookieless usage events:

Events from a single visit share a random visit ID. It's created when the page loads and passed only in the link to our help form, so we can tell, for example, that a help request followed a particular landing page. It isn't stored on your device, and a new one is created on every visit. We don't use cookies, device storage, fingerprinting or third-party analytics.

Help requests

If you ask for help, we collect what you enter (name, email, optional phone, country, topic and message), the wording and version of the consent you gave, the type of professional it will be passed to, and the visit details above. We use this only to pass your request to one professional of that type and to follow up on it, including recording whether the introduction was useful. We don't sell your details or use them for unrelated marketing.

If we don't yet work with a professional of the type you need, the form says so and your request goes on a waitlist instead. We keep it for up to 30 days and, if a suitable professional becomes available in that time, introduce you as above. If not, it's deleted automatically.

To prevent abuse, we store a one-way, salted fingerprint of your IP address with your request, to limit how many requests can be sent from one connection. We can't turn it back into your IP address, and it's erased within 25 hours (see below).

How long we keep data

Who processes data

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes connection data to deliver it. Usage events and help requests are stored in our Cloudflare database. When you consent, your request is shared with the professional we match you with, who becomes responsible for how they use it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under South Africa's POPIA, Canada's PIPEDA or the EU/UK GDPR), you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent. Email [email protected]. South African residents may also complain to the Information Regulator.
